ARTIST PROFILE
Sadie Gerbic is an artist who grew up in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. The region’s natural beauty has had a strong influence on her work. A printmaker, textile designer and avid garden designer, Ms. Gerbic often utilizes plant flora, insects and landscapes as sources of inspiration.
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago as well as an Art Education degree. There she studied a wide range of mediums but focused on serigraphy and textile design. She began producing hand printed fabrics and entered the men’s apparel industry, where she spent ten years as a senior Designer and merchandiser, designing, coloring and overseeing the production of fabric for men’s neckties. These collections were distributed nationally and internationally at fine department and specialty stores.
Ms. Gerbic is currently working with intaglio printing methods and mixed mediums on paper… combining printed techniques with watercolor and pastel. In addition to natural forms, she works with psychologically compelling imagery, reflecting in a narrative manner upon the human experience.
